Ocean Child, written and composed by Neil Martin, tells the story of the tragic shipwreck of the RMS Tayleur in January 1854. Known as the Victorian Titanic, The White Star Line ship sank off the coast of Lambay Island with only 280 out of over 650 passengers and crew surviving.
This workshop is designed for 4th, 5th and 6th classes and will give the students the opportunity to explore the local story of the RMS Tayleur through the music and words of Ocean Child.
Led by a drama facilitator and a traditional musician, this highly interactive workshop incorporates storytelling, history, theatre, soundscapes and traditional music, and promises to be engaging and inspiring.
